Best Affordable Mascaras in India
Mascaras are something that no makeup lover can ever have/try enough of. No look is complete without a healthy dose of mascara on our lashes. A simple coat of mascara without adding much else to the face can be the saving grace of a no makeup day. I remember this girlfriend of mine having such insanely thick and long lashes that she could go without mascara forever. Sadly most of us do not have that blessed gene in our body. Some of us are born with it, some of us need help.
Over the course of my not-so-beauty-blogging and my beauty-blogging days, I have happened to splurge, spend and waste my money on countless little tubes of lash saving grace many of which left me lash-less.
I thought, Hey, what’s the use of being a beauty blogger if I can’t save your money (or help you spend some *wink wink*). So here’s presenting a list of the best drugstore/affordable mascaras available today in India. Some of these aren’t exactly pocket friendly but they surelyperform well!
Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara. Price: Rs 350
This is the cult favorite and hands down winner of the Affordable Mascara category. A mascara that comes in both waterproof and non-waterproof versions, the Colossal Mascara is an extraordinary mascara for an ordinary price. It gives great volume, has upto 8 hours of wear without smudging, has a fabulous brush and formula and the waterproof version does not give raccoon eyes ever.
Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express Mascara. Price: Rs 475
Another favorite is The Falsies Mascara from Maybelline. This one gives curl and volume to your lashes in an instant. Just like falsies. This mascara comes in both variants, waterproof and non-waterproof. Maybelline comes with super cute packaging and this one, in a bright purple packaging, also scores in that department. The brush is unique, the product is evenly applied and it stays on long. Another budget beauty must have.
Avon SuperSHOCK MAX Mascara. Price: Rs 499
Helix brush? That’s something new in a mascara. To be very honest, when I bought this mascara, I actually twirled the brush on my lashes to see how the helix can handle my lashes 😉 It didn’t really work though and I had to go back to the conventional way. Gives instant volume and length to the lashes and also adds a little bit of curl. Does tend to flake and fall off the lashes after a few hours. But I’m not complaining since its really a tiny little bit. A pretty decent mascara for a decent amount.
Lakme Eyeconic Curling Mascara. Price: Rs 300
A curling mascara that is probably the most affordable quality mascara available in the Indian market today. The Lakme Eyeconic Mascara comes in a super cute packaging with a curved brush. It certainly does curl the lashes and the hold is pretty good too. The only disadvantage is that it tends to clump up the lashes upon applying more than two coats. Not bad for the price though.
L’Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes Mascara. Price: Rs 795
Probably the best mascara that L’oreal makes. It gives wonderful length and definition to the lashes and has a fabulous formula. The brush and tube design are amazing that you get the perfect amount of product on the brush and evenly apply it to your lashes which gives decent volume to your lashes. Water resistant but works well enough for everyday use.
HBM Edit: Might not work as well for those with very sparse lashes like mine!
Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara. Price: Rs 500
A volumizing mascara that claims to grow your lashes. I have personally tried this one and I love the way my lashes look after having this one on. Growing the lashes, I guess it’s a tall claim. This mascara does give both volume and length and therefore it looks like our lashes have grown. Doesn’t clump on the lashes and lasts pretty great too.
L’Oreal Paris False Lash Architect 4D Mascara. Price: Rs 795
A mascara that gives a truck load of volume to your lashes. Its almost as if you’re wearing false lashes. Does not clump and apparently has fiber technology to lengthen and volumize lashes (lash architect you see). Has a superb brush that tapers at the tip so that we can get into the lower and inner lashes easily. It’s a fantastic product but for the price, I’d rather buy something else.
Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara. Price: Rs 795
A great mascara that lives upto its claims of great volume and definition. One of the rare mascaras that does not clump or flake. It does not do much for length but those with sparse lashes surely won’t be disappointed!
Bourjois Volume Glamour MAX Mascara. Price- Rs 700 approx.
Contains natural wax and pearl extracts so it feels like I’m at least doing something good for my lashes 😉 Gives great volume and length to my lashes and due to the wax, does hold the curl pretty well too. This being a waterproof mascara gives me hours of stay put black lashes. The price is kind of a put off but for a great product, why not!
Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Mascara. Price: Rs 465
Known for giving fabulous volume to lashes and many girls swear by this. Does tend to clump upon applying multiple coats but then voluminous mascaras do tend to do that a lot, nothing a lash comb can’t solve. This mascara is jet black and waterproof and refuses to budge off the lashes. Its a great wear for the entire day.
HBM Edit: I would recommend this to those with fairly decent lashes as it does a great job on those. For those with sparse lashes, do give it a skip 🙂
