Keeping up with the new launches in the market I am putting the Maybelline Color Show Shiny Beige under the scanner. The colorshow pencils were quite a surprise as its not widely available even in the west! This makes me think the Lip Khols will be here soon too! 😀 Anyway coming back to the review, this pretty champagne colored pencil by Maybelline had me really excited and it was one of my favorites from the whole range. You can check out all the swatches of Maybelline Colorshow Crayon Khols here and buy it online at Nykaa

The Maybelline Colorshow Eye Pencils come in a sleek black retractable pencil form with a color coded cap. I’m so glad Maybelline was thoughtful enough tohave color coded caps as its such a pain identifying a particular color with my Lakme Eyeconic Kajals. The cap shuts tightly and will not come off in your bag making it travel friendly!
Shiny Beige like the name suggest is a beautiful beige color with a pink undertone. It has a satin finish and will work great as a brow bone highlighter. This can also be used near the tear duct or even as an eyeshadow all over the lid besides an eyeliner. It just adds the much needed brightness and freshness to the eyes.Shiny Beige is best suited for medium to dusky skintones as it requires alot of effort to show up on lighter skintones.
Texture & Pigmentation
The Color Show Crayon Khols have a smooth texture which is not overly creamy and hence the tip does not break. It applies easily on the lids and does not tug. I’m glad this is not very buttery as almost all of my retractable pencils break so much in summers.
Now coming to the bad part-Pigmentation! Shiny Beige has a pretty average pigmentation and requires alot of swipes to show up especially on me. It needs to be swiped atleast thrice to get the color to show up properly and even more so if I conceal my eyes. I have very dark lids and its very rare for me not to conceal my eyes hence it didn’t receive much love from me!
I was quite gutted that this wasn’t showing up well on me because the staying power is *superbbbbb* It does not budge under water and withstands vigorous rubbing. I’m pretty sure girls with oily lids will love this to the core(if it manges to show up on them) I tried removing this with soap and water and it was still there. I was just stunned!
Worth the price tag?
I had really high hopes with this one especially since Maybelline priced them higher than Lakme’s variants. I’m happy that they launched new ,unique and fun shades but I hate applying so much effort for it to show up on my eyes. I wish these were priced around Rs 250-300 with much better color pay off!
1) A gorgeous champagne shade which can be used in numerous ways
2) Has a smooth and soft texture
3) Does not pull or tug upon application
4) Superb staying power and is veryyyyy long lasting
5) It is smudge proof and water resistant
6) Intelligent color coded and retractable packaging!
1) Average pigmentation
HBM Recommendation: Maybelline Color Show Crayon Kohl in Shiny Beige is a very pretty champagne shade which can be used as an highlighter, eye brightener, eyeshadow besides an eyeliner. The staying power is superb but the pigmentation is a bit of a downer. It can be worked with if you have a medium or dusky skintone but I strongly suggest the lighter skintones to steer clear of this as it will not show up well on them!
