Rimmel London has been one of my favorite brands when it comes to lip products and I always used to wish that we get the famous Apocalips/Showoff Lacquers in India soon! However, I couldn’t wait that long and ordered the US version called Showoff Lip Lacquers. In UK & India these are called Apocalips while in USA these are manufactured as Showoff. Everything from the packaging to the shades are the same and the name is the only difference!
Now that these lacquers are available in India I’m going to showoff review the most gorgeous shade from the whole range- Apocaliptic!
It’s the End of Colour as you know it!
The intense rich colour of a lipstick, enhanced by a satin smooth shine.
Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer is neither a lipstick nor a gloss… It’s BIGGER than both!
LONG LIVE THE COLOUR!
Rimmel Apocalips/Showoff Lip Lacquers come in a glossy black tube with with a very interesting cap that has some beautiful uncut stone design on it. The packaging looks super pretty and the best part is that these are transparent at the bottom which eases identification incase you have more than one shade from the range.
These Apocalips come with a sponge doe foot applicator with a concave center which holds quite a bit of gloss. This ensures that you do not have to dip back the brush for more product! Ingenious,I say!
Rimmel Apocaliptic is a bright and stunning hot pink/magenta shade!! It is slightly neon but that is what I believe sets it apart from other pink shades! This is certainly quite a bold shade and more appropriate for a night out. However, you can also tone it down by dabbing a tissue on your lips. This will suit just about every complexion be it light, medium or dusky!
Texture & Finish
Apocaliptic has the most wonderful texture ever.! It is creamy and buttery and is very similar to the NYX Xtreme Lipcreams in texture. However, these are alot more lightweight compared those NYX Lipcreams and despite the creamy texture it isn’t sticky at all!
It has a glossy finish when immediately applied and it settles into a semi matte finish after an hour or so. It does feel a wee bit drying but nothing uncomfortable!
Rimmel certainly wasn’t kidding when it claimed that these are liquid lipsticks. Apocaliptic is intensely pigmented and even a light application gives an awesome color payoff. It will surely cover any pigmentation of the lips easily and does not settle into fine lines!
Apocaliptic scores well in the wear time department too! It stays put for about 5 hours though it does tend to fade incase you have a full meal. After 5 hours it leaves a slight pink stain so you do not have to worry about a touch up once it completely fades!
The only thing that I hate is that it transfers onto everything unless you blot it! But then if you blot it you won’t get the glossy finish :p
The first time I applied Apocalyptic I knew right then and there that I have worn this shade before. Thankfully I do not own a ton of lip products so it was easier to track down the dupe. This is the EXACT dupe of Inglot Lipstick 140 which costs around Rs 750. So if you’ve been eying the Inglot Lipstick then why not give this a try instead? Only difference is that the Inglot lipstick isn’t as pigmented as the Rimmel Apocaliptic and neither is it this glossy!
1) A gorgeous hot pink shade which is slightly neon
2) Has a creamy and buttery texture which is lightweight and non sticky
3) It is intensely pigmented and a single coat give an opaque finish
4) Long Staying and survives small meals
5) Comes with a unique doe foot applicator
6) Attractive Packaging
HBM Recommendation: Rimmel Apocalips/Showoff Apocaliptic Lip Lacquer is a gorgeous magenta pink with a slight neon undertone. It’s creamy, lightweight and non sticky texture totally bowled me over. The pigmentation and staying power are even better making it an absolute must have if you like pink lipsticks or bright and bold shades!
