They say gel eyeliners are the easiest to master yet I find them the toughest to apply. Personally, I feel its all about practice, I started off with liquid liners and kept on learning how to apply eyeliner till I succeeded. Be it pencil liners, liquid liners or gel eye liners, everything needs practice and with some effort you can easily master anything! My first gel liner was the Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Eyeliner and I never looked at any other brand thereafter. This year they revamped it and came out with a 36 hr formula which I was intrigued to try after my old tub dried out. Read on to know if I liked it better than the older formula and if it stands true to its claims.

Packaging
The new Maybelline Gel Eyeliner comes in a cute transparent tub with a black lid which is much better than the older packaging. The best part about the Maybelline Eyeliner is that it comes with a great brush for application and truth be told I prefer this over the regular angled liner brushes that most people use! The application is such a breeze with it and the brush picks up just the right amount of product.
I would suggest storing all gel eyeliners upside down as it helps in preventing them from drying.
Texture & Pigmentation
Maybelline 36hr Gel Liner has a very soft and smooth texture, creamier than the older variant. It is a matte deep black and I wished it came in other shades like brown and purple as available in the west! Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Liner applies evenly and a single stroke gives an intense black finish. I rarely need to go over the line as it is very pigmented and makes for the best kajal! Every time I tightline my eyes with the Maybelline Liner everyone asks me about which kajal I am wearing! You must try this for your waterline and I bet you’ll love the intense result.
Staying Power
Maybelline Eye Studio 36hr Gel Liner claims to last upto 36 hrs! Now that is some wear time. I haven’t worn it for THAT long but it certainly performed well for atleast 10 hours. It did not budge, smudge or transfer a single bit which is very impressive. It is very rare for eye liners to stay put for such a long time on my waterline especially in summers but I always trust the new Maybelline Gel Eyeliner to save me from panda eyes!
Price
Maybelline has always been my favorite budget brand and it definitely didn’t disappoint this time either be it in terms of the price or quality. The gel eyeliner is certainly the best eyeliner in the market and is said to be a dupe of the L’Oreal Super Gel Eyeliner & MAC Blactrack which are priced much higher.

The new formula also dries up pretty soon! I heat the pot a bit using my hair dryer and then use it! it becomes so much better :)

That's a lovely EOTD. I am skeptical about getting this since i heard its not safe for waterline, and dries super quick given the shelf life. Is it okay to be used on waterline? I have sensitive and watery eyes :-/

Thanks for your kind words! I too have sensitive eyes and this does bother me a bit after a few hours, but then so does every kajal in the market. I suggest you stick to this for your eyelids only!
