Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick POW 3 Review & Swatches

As you all know I came home with only one lipstick initially but I can never stop at just one so I picked up 2 more from the same range- POW 3 & POW 4. What can I say? A girl can never have too many of pinks! I think I should get POW 1 to complete my collection 😀 BTW don’t forget to check out Maybelline POW 4 Review which is the best coral lipstick ever!

Packaging
Maybelline Pink Alert Lipsticks come in the regular Color Sensational Lipstick packaging but with a beautiful pink cap. It has a plastic wrapping which screams ‘Pink Alert’ written on it. On the bottom, there is a color coded sticker along with the shade name that eases identification. The packaging is sturdy, girly and PINK! Its also travel friendly as the cap shuts tightly and won’t come off in your handbag.
Shade
POW 3 Is a gorgeous barbie pink with a blue undertone.Usually I stay away from blue based pinks as I have a strong yellow undertone but Maybelline POW 3 looks beautiful on my face and looks oh so bright! If you’re fond of bright pink lipsticks then this is a must have this summers! POW 3 will suit to fair to medium skintone but will definitely look OTT on dusky beauties.
Texture
It has a smooth and buttery texture which gives a glossy shine to lips. It is moisturizing but I certainly don’t find this as hydrating as Maybelline POW 2. After awhile it settles into a semi matte finish and does not feel uncomfortable.
Like I mentioned in my previous post, Maybelline Pink Alert Lipsticks have a tendency to melt so make sure you refrigerate it in summers!
Pigmentation
Maybelline POW 3 is not as highly pigmented as POW 2 but it gives a decent coverage in 2-3 swipes. It will cover moderate pigmentation of lips but does not give an opaque finish.
Staying Power
POW 3 has a decent wear time and stays put for about 3-4 hours after which it fades into a pink lip stain. It does survive a small meal or snack but due to the creamy texture the lipstick does not survive a full meal. For the affordable price tag I don’t mind touching up after a few hours.
Pros
1) A bright barbie pink which is bound to grab attention
2) Has a creamy and buttery texture which adequately moisturizes the lips
3) Does not settle into fine lines
4) Has a glossy finish giving a fuller appearance to the pout
5) It is decently pigmented
6) Good staying power and lasts a few hours
7) Easy on the pocket.
Cons
1) It will not suit dusky beauties
2) Tends to transfer
HBM Recommendation: Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick POW 3 is a bright barbie pink which is perfect for summers. The quality is great and the price is even better so if you’re a fan of bold pink lipsticks then this is a total must have. Though, it will not flatter dusky skintones so its best if they skip this particular shade and instead pick up POW 4.
