Maybelline launched their new affordable range of lipsticks ‘The Color Show Range ‘ late last year but it is only now that the brand is promoting it which is actually great timing since it coincides with the opening of colleges. I’m sure many young girls are on the lookout for the pretty pink and coral lipsticks which are easy on the pocket and this review is just for them. I have quite a few shades from this range but today I’ll be reviewing my favorite- Maybelline Colorshow Cherry Crush.

Packaging
The Maybelline Colorshow Lipstick comes in a regular black lipstick casing. It comes with a color coded band which might help in shade identification however if you own more lipsticks from the same color family then you will have to rely on the sticker at the bottom stating the shade name. Overall, there is nothing attractive about the packaging but considering it is so budget friendly I did not expect much either.

Shade
I have reds, plums, brown and pinks from the Maybelline Colorshow range but my absolute favorite is this gorgeous pink. Maybelline Cherry Crush is a beautiful cherry pink which looks different on different people. On me, it a peachy pink but on my mom it is a bright pink with a red undertone. The shade is more closer to what it looks like in the swatch rather than the lip swatch. It is suitable for those with light to medium skintone and could be a bit pale for dusky beauties.

Texture
Maybelline Color Show Lipsticks vary in texture from shade to shade. Shades like Ruby Twilight & Fuchsia Flare are extremely creamy, however Cherry Crush is smooth and applies on easily but isn’t so creamy in texture. It feels comfortable on the lips but does not hydrate them like some shades from this range do. Also, I’ve noticed it has a tendency to settle into fine lines so if your lips are chapped, proper exfoliation is required for this color.

Pigmentation
Maybelline Cherry Crush Colorshow Lipstick is well pigmented but it does not give an opaque coverage. A single swipe gives a sheer wash of color which can be built for a better color pay off in 2-3 swipes. If you’re looking for a highly saturated finish then it might disappoint you however if you are on the look for a good everyday pink which provides moderate coverage then you are bound to like this. The finish of the lipstick is semi-glossy.

Staying Power
Like the other Color Show Lipsticks, Cherry Crush too stays put for an average of 3-4 hours depending on the amount you eat or drink. It does survive small meals or snacks but requires a touch up after a full meal. The wear time could’ve been better but for the price, I find 3 hours to be quite decent.

Pros of Maybelline Colorshow Lipstick

1) Soft and smooth texture
2) Does not tug or pull
3) A beautiful cherry-pink which will flatter fair to medium skintone well
4) Well pigmented and provides medium coverage
5) Decent staying power and provides a wear time of about 3-4 hours
6) Comes in a huge variety of shades and finishes
7) Easy on the pocket making it perfect for college girls

Cons of Maybelline Colorshow Lipstick

1) Tends to settle into fine lines of the lips at times
2) Boring packaging but for the price I cannot really complain
