Lodi- The Garden Restaurant Monsoon Festival Review – The best place for a romantic date!

Hi Everyone,

I was recently invited by Lodi The Garden Restaurant to try out their Monsoon Festival Menu and I was really looking forward to as Lodi had been recommended to me by many of my friends and is known to be one of the most romantic dine in options in Delhi. It is located at the start of Lodhi Gardens, opposite Mausam Bhawan. Upon entering the property, I almost felt transported to a different city altogether thanks to the fresh and serene ambiance set among the lush greenery of Delhi.

I instantly felt relaxed and loved the alfresco dining arrangement. The outdoor area is set among lush greenery with white tents offering complete privacy to the love birds. It also has comfortable seating option with an outdoor bar. I loved the white gravel and the bamboo lanterns hanging from the tress which is bound to put you in a good mood especially when you visit it at night. Usually alfresco dining is a bit uncomfortable in Delhi summers but I enjoyed it to the hilt thanks to the monsoon season as the breeze was cool and comfortable.

They also have 2 floors dedicated for indoor dining with cozy settings and a Mediterranean wooden decor. The place does not feel stuffy and it’s almost hard to believe that I felt so calm and relaxed in the hustle and bustle of Delhi. I clicked many pictures of the beautiful restaurant and since I wanted to post quite a few of them, I complied a slideshow for easy viewing.

Just hit play to have a virtual tour of Lodi- The Garden Restaurant 😀

Lodi- The Garden Restaurant Executive Chef- Elam Singh Rana

Moving on to the Monsoon Festival, the menu has been designed by Executive Chef Elam Singh Rana and includes a wide array of delectable delicacies. They have both veg and non veg options and since both Shweta & I (oh did I mention what a great company she is?) are both vegetarians we tried out their veg starters, main course and desserts.

We started our meal with spicy coconut , curry leaves and lentils soup which I was a bit apprehensive about as I’m not too fond of coconut in my food but let me tell you it was one of the best soups I’ve had till date. Since I cannot eat too much of spice in my food, Chef Elam was nice enough to go lighthanded with the spicy quotient and I really, really enjoyed it.

We then moved on to appetizers with crispy corn and cilantro cake along with fresh green salad containing lotus stem, water chestnut, rainy green mint & lime vinaigrette and guava and monsoon greens with organic apricot vinaigrette. I really enjoyed the corn and cilantro cake and it was definitely the highlight of the meal for me.

For drinks, we tried some of the mocktails- Prince Of Wales which is a refreshing and tangy drink made of pears, basil and lemonade and Twist In Berry which contained guava, berry & juice! We also tried a cocktail called Holly Martini later on and quite enjoyed it.

The main course included marinated grilled eggplant, baby corn, courgettes & shallots on a spicy nutty pilaf which both Shweta and I really loved and found it quite delicious! We also tried another dish which had a creamy coconut curry of taro roots, lotus roots and bean with steamed rice.

To round-up our meal, our taste buds were tantalized with sweet indulgences like fresh grilled peach with honey yoghurt & apple strudel with vanilla ice cream. The light and delicious desserts were the best way to end our heavy and appetizing lunch.

Lodi- The Garden Restaurant Review

I had a wonderful meal and really enjoyed the ambiance of Lodi- The Garden Restaurant! The time just flew by and we did not even realize we had been there for almost 3 hours! It is the best place to unwind after a long day at work or to spend some quality time with your significant other. It is a bit expensive but a perfect setting for celebrating special occasions!

* The monsoon festival at Lodi- The Garden restaurant is on till 31st August, 2014.
