Hot, summery days are finally here and I’m so glad to pack up my woolens for light cotton dresses. In summers, I usually prefer a clean makeup free face (as its anyway going to melt) with a bright coral lip to perk up my complexion. I have a huge weakness for coral as you can anyway tell from the blog’s color scheme and I just can’t get enough of it when it comes to lipsticks. A coral lip product that I’ve been reaching out to often is the Maybelline Lip Gradation Coral 1 which is also known as the Maybelline Color Blur Lip Pencil in some countries. Packaging
Maybelline Lip Gradation is packaged in a sleek pencil form with one side containing the product and the other with a firm white sponge blender for the ombré lips, which is a trend that has been really popular since 2013. The packaging is pretty cool and since it is color coded, it becomes easier to identify incase you own more than one shade. However, as the retractable mechanism is on the opposite of the lip color, I have accidentally nicked the tip while removing the cap of the sponge. I’ve seen this happening to quite a few people so you need to be a bit careful about that.

Texture
The Maybelline Colorsensational Lip Gradation has a very smooth and soft texture which glides on the lips. It settles into a comfortable powder matte finish but has a tendency to accentuate dry patches if any. I suffer from dry lips all year long so I need to properly exfoliate while using this range. That said, I love the texture and its great for a matte formula.

Shade
So the Maybelline Lip Gradation range (all swatches here) has 8 shades ranging from pinks, coral, reds and a nude. I have the shade Coral 1 which is a bright coral-pink that will flatter fair to medium skintones. It is slightly neon hence can be a bit tricky for darker skintones to carry. The shade is perfect for summers and I’m just obsessed with such pretty corals.

Pigmentation & Staying Power
Maybelline Lip Gradation By Colorsensational Coral 1 is highly pigmented and a single swipe gives great coverage. It beautifully hides lip pigmentation which is a big plus point. As for the wear time, it stays put for 4-5 hours on me. The range was extensively used at AIFW AW’16 and I’ve seen the darker pinks and reds last throughout the day on bloggers including meals and drinks.

Overall, its a great product and I love it but what bothers me is the tiny quantity and the really high price tag. Yes the whole ombré thing is tempting but you can re-create it with any lipstick. Also, the range has common shades hence I wasn’t too excited when I first saw it in the stores. Had they kept the prices lower, I would’ve rated it better since the quantity would barely last long if used often.
